Hi. I am a senior at Evanston Township High School. I am working on an independent project: to perform acts of kindness in Evanston and take pictures of them to post on Flickr. I hope to spread kindness around my community and make people aware of acts of kindness. I would love to hear from you. Feel free to add anything relevant to acts of kindness and my project. Leave a post, add a comment to my posts, come back as many times as you like, and look at the websites and books I have added : )

Gave a Compliment
While shopping (which we did a lot of) and I was definitely bored of at times. I really do not like shopping too much but anyways...I liked a shirt that a woman was wearing. Everyone has such neat, unique style in New York. I was right next to her in a store and made eye contact with her and complimented it. It seemed like she was actually thrown off by my compliment and was not expecting it but smiled at me and said, "oh thanks!" Making contact with her and saying something positive to her made us both smile and while still in the store about five minutes later she was still smiling! It was a great feeling even if it was as simple as saying something like, "I really like your shirt." Everyone should try giving someone a compliment a day...but make it genuine.
someone did this to my very old grandpa on the bus once, and afterwards he told me how nice it was of the person. it made a big difference to him and i'm sure it did to this woman too!
ReplyDeleteI do that all the time and it makes me feel so good!!! People don't compliment others because they don't know the person, but that's just silly. It's just a win-win situation.
